New Blackberry Kickstart 8220 Photos released

New photos of the upcoming Blackberry flip phone named the “Kickstart” have been leaked today on Blackberry News. After the fairly crappy looking shots of the device released by Boy Genius Report, I have to say this device is starting to actually look pretty nice. Unfortunately, the side view which isn’t shown here, shows the device is pretty chunky.
As a replacement for a Blackberry pearl, I think it may just be a fantastic phone.
As we can see by the shots showing T-Mobile’s MyFaves interface, the phone is obviously destined for T-Mobile USA, which unfortunately relegates it to using EDGE data, but it seems to be running the same updated Blackberry OS that the upcoming Blackberry Bold is running. The nicest thing about this new OS, it seems, is the upgraded text rendering. The new anti-aliased text and new typeface will make those late night email sessions much easier on the eye.

Considering it’s a flip, I’d imagine that the Blackberry Kickstart will be poised squarely as a consumer level device, and priced in that same sort of way. I can’t imagine it would be more than $99 with a new contract.
It’s a shame they didn’t release this phone a year ago. I would have been drooling over getting one.
In the post iPhone world though, it’s hard to get excited about a blackberry flip phone.
